The newly renovated property will be led by Aaron Slattery as its new general manager
MINNEAPOLIS, OCTOBER 13, 2026 – The Lofton Hotel, a 248-room lifestyle hotel located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, proudly announces the completion of its comprehensive renovation. The hotel now features a reimagined lobby with a new Italian-inspired dining concept, Mezzo Mezzo, and enhancements to guest rooms and amenities throughout the property. In tandem with the renovation, Marcus Hotels & Resorts also announces the promotion of Aaron Slattery to general manager of The Lofton Hotel.
“The Lofton Hotel is a standout destination in downtown Minneapolis, and this renovation marks an exciting new chapter for the hotel,” said Michael Evans, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts. “We are proud to have thoughtfully infused the art, culture, cuisine, and natural beauty of Minneapolis throughout every aspect of the guest experience. The Lofton is poised to deliver the very best in hospitality for all who live in and visit the Twin Cities.”
Reimagined First Floor
Drawing inspiration from Minneapolis’s internationally renowned parks and green spaces, The Lofton’s lobby has been reimagined with a whimsical, nature-inspired essence. From the natural tones, custom designed flooring, welcoming seating, and lush greenery, the lobby has evolved into a space that feels more at home with the area’s natural beauty.
Within the refreshed lobby, guests will find the recently opened Mezzo Mezzo, the hotel’s newest dining destination. Italian for “half and half,” Mezzo Mezzo is equal parts coffee shop, pizzeria, and bar, offering an upscale yet approachable atmosphere that invites travelers and locals alike to sip, savor, and socialize from day to night.
Mornings at Mezzo Mezzo begin with locally roasted Spyhouse coffee and artisan pastries before transitioning to Roman-style pizza, house-made focaccia sandwiches, and rotating Italian desserts. Dishes are prepared in-house or locally sourced using the freshest ingredients, while the bar serves classic Italian cocktails alongside creative signature offerings.
Mezzo Mezzo’s central location makes it an ideal destination for a morning coffee, post-work cocktails and light bites, an after-dinner espresso or dessert, or drinks before a concert, game, or performance.
Enhanced Guest Rooms and Amenities
Extending the nature-inspired design found in the lobby, all 248 guest rooms and suites have been restyled with custom flooring and drapery, updated furnishings and thoughtfully curated lighting to elevate each stay. Guest room corridors have also been upgraded to create a seamless transition throughout the hotel.
The Lofton Hotel’s sixth-floor fitness center was significantly expanded to serve as an additional amenity for guests. Overlooking the Target Center and First Avenue, the newly renovated space has doubled in size and now features state-of-the-art equipment from Precor and Peloton, as well as dedicated areas for mobility and flexibility training.
In addition, the hotel’s popular fourth-floor restaurant, Cosmos, has been refreshed. The space now features updated lighting, drapery and furnishings to add additional gathering areas, along with an updated bar area for an elevated look.
The Lofton Hotel’s New General Manager
Marcus Hotels & Resorts has promoted Aaron Slattery to general manager of The Lofton Hotel. Slattery succeeds veteran hospitality leader Jim Waldvogel, who announced his retirement after more than 29 years with Marcus Hotels & Resorts.
Slattery joins The Lofton Hotel after serving as general manager of Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington since 2024. In that role, he helped drive award-winning guest experiences, foster team development, and enhance the hotel’s programming and overall guest offerings. He began his career with Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2007 as banquet manager at Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington and quickly advanced through a series of leadership roles, including food and beverage director and director of operations. Slattery holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
“With nearly two decades of experience at Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Aaron is a proven leader with a deep understanding of hotel operations and a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences,” said Evans. “The Lofton Hotel has undergone an exciting transformation, positioning the property as a true destination for locals and visitors alike. Aaron is the right leader to continue nurturing the momentum that has been building under Jim’s expert leadership.”
