Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has promoted Michael Sawin to executive chef, according to a news release issued Thursday.
Sawin started as a sous chef at the Lake Geneva resort in 2009. He will direct daily operations at the resort’s nine restaurants, including the Geneva ChopHouse Restaurant and Ristorante Brissago.
He plans to expand the resort’s on-site vegetable and herb garden and host outdoor garden dinners this summer, the release said.
Sawin grew up in suburban Chicago and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. He has a background in French cooking, having worked at Le Vichyssois and Le Francais in Illinois. He also has worked for the Wyndham Hotel chain.
Grand Geneva is owned by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Milwaukee.
