Seasonal Events Starting to Fill the Calendar

The 22nd annual Christmas in the Country celebration kicks off with an illumination ceremony Sunday (Nov. 20) at the Grand Geneva, 7036 Grand Geneva Way, in Lake Geneva.

The six-week event begins at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with a 6 p.m. ceremony with an official lighting and fireworks display.

Visitors can drive through the holiday display — featuring over two million lights on 1,300 acres — and continue inside The Lodge at Grand Geneva to view mechanical holiday displays, gingerbread houses and a variety of children’s activities.

Santa will be available for photos in the ballroom.

Jelly Belly holiday festival

Santa Claus and Rudolph are appearing at a Christmas tree lighting festival on Saturday (Nov. 19) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Jelly Belly, 10100 Jelly Belly Lane in Pleasant Prairie.

Festivities include a free video train tour, free samples, face painting, balloon art, a magician, raffles, prizes and more. A tree lighting ceremony is at 6 p.m.

Admisison is free; photos with Santa Claus and Rudolph are available for $15.

Open gym at Scamps

Scamps Gymnastics, 5711 77th St., is holding open gym Friday (Nov. 18) for ages 6 and up and Saturday (Nov. 19) for ages 5 and under.

Friday’s session is from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. and is $10 ($5 for class members). Saturday’s session is from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. and is $8 ($5 for class members).

Friday Fun Days at library

The Northside Library, 1500 27th Ave., continues its Friday Fun Days on Friday (Nov. 18) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The free event includes games, craft projects, a family-friendly movie and a variety of activities.

Dino Dig this weekend

The Dinosaur Discovery Museum, 5608 10th Ave., is holding Dino Digs from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 19) and Sunday (Nov. 20).

The free event allows children ages 3 and older to become amateur paleontologists and to dig for dinosaurs at simulated excavation sites.
